Carolyn Milburn

RUSSELL SPRINGS - Carolyn Milburn, 57, died Tuesday at her home.

Born Nov. 21, 1946, in LaFollette, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Sylvia Wilhoit. She earned her bachelor's degree in physical education from Georgetown College and a master's degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University. She taught in the Harrodsburg, Boyle County, Somerset, Williamstown and Webster County school systems. She was active in Russell Springs First Baptist Church and sang in the choir. She also was a member of Russell County Library Board.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Milburn; two sons, Shane and Bryan Milburn; two sisters, Jewel Mastrogiovanni and Kathy Colvin; three brothers, Gene, Gary and Doug Wilhoit; and a grandson.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Russell Springs First Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff Eaton.

Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials may go to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Margaret G. Wells

OWENSBORO - Margaret Galloway Wells, 87, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Owensboro.

Born Dec. 11, 1916, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Viola Galloway. She was a former supervisor at a tobacco warehouse in Owensboro, a member of St. John United Methodist Church and the widow of Hubert Wells.

Survivors include a brother, Glenn Galloway of Danville; two sisters, Connie G. Selvey of Danville and Gladys G. Wilson of Gravel Switch; and her foster daughter and caregiver, Linda Minton of Owensboro.

Services were today at McGinnis Funeral Home. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Wilma Wells

HARRODSBURG - Wilma Wells died Thursday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.


Oma G. Gross

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Oma Griffey Gross, 89, of Brodhead, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McKnight Funeral Home by John Erwin. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

She died Thursday at Rockcastle County Hospital.

Born March 15, 1915, in Harlan County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Nora Caldwell Griffey. She was a homemaker and a member of Holiness Church of God. She was the widow of Levi Gross.

Survivors include two daughters, Edna Brock of Crab Orchard and Betty McMahan of Somerset; and two grandchildren whom she raised, Shirley Martin of Brodhead and Allen Collins of Crab Orchard; 39 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven children, Margie Gross, Mae Rodriguez, Shirley Wilson, Barbara Gonzales, and John, Caleb and Eugene Gross.

Pallbearers will be Michael Bishop, Dale Carpenter, and Wayne, Bobby, Anthony and John Wilson.

Visitation will be after 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Velma Pennington

LIBERTY - Services for Velma Pennington, 75, of Liberty, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bartle Funeral Home by James McDonald. Burial will in Poplar Springs Cemetery.

She died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 28, 1928, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late D.E. and Jinnie Gilpin Pennington.

Survivors include a brother, Marvin H. Pennington of Bethel, Ohio; and a sister, Patricia Meyers of Slidell, La.

Pallbearers will be Shawn, J.T., Keith, Jerry, Don and David Pennington.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may go to Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Bartle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
