LIBERTY - Garrard County's boys rolled to an 8-1 victory over Casey County Saturday.
Will Stevens started things for Garrard (2-0) by winning a tiebreaker over Casey's Justin Martin in the No. 1 singles match. Stevens won 7-4 after each player took one set, but Garrard assistant coach Mike Stevens said he had his hands full with Martin.
"Martin's really progressed a whole lot. I think with just a little more match experience, he should be a seeded player come time for the region," Mike Stevens said.
Eighth-grader Phillip Arnet scored a 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
It was the second 8-1 win of the young season for Garrard.
"It seems like we've got a good group of kids," Mike Stevens said.
