STANFORD - The suspect in Friday's kidnapping of an infant from Fort Logan Hospital was scheduled to be arraigned in Lincoln District Court this afternoon.
Tonya Dionne Shelton, 24, of Lexington, who worked part-time at Fort Logan Hospital, was charged with kidnapping, said Stanford Police Chief Keith Middleton. She is being held in the Lincoln County Jail on a $200,000 full-cash bond.
The Fort Logan Hospital nurse's aide was charged following a statewide search for an abducted newborn girl with respiratory problems, who was found alive in an alley behind a consignment store 150 miles away.
Police used footprints to identify the baby found by a passer-by around 9 a.m. behind the Granma's Attic store in Bowling Green. Grayci Jean Barrows had been reported taken from her mother's hospital room in Stanford five hours earlier.
