Red Cross schedules classes

The American Red Cross will offer the following classes:

Standard First Aid - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Thursday, $35.

Adult Infant Child CPR and First Aid Bloodborne Pathogens - April 17, $55 for all.

Lifeguard classes - April 16-18 and April 30-May 2, KSD Thomas Gym, Instructor Brenda Prescott, $150.

Diabetes Coalition sets program

Dr. Maria Pavez with Associates in Neurology, will present a program on diabetic neuropathies at the 6 p.m. Tuesday meeting of the Boyle County Diabetes Coalition at the Boyle County Health Department, South Third Street.

A discussion of symptoms of nerve damage and how it can be prevented will be held.

Hunter education classes offered

STANFORD - A free hunter education course, sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, will be offered April 22-24 at the University of Kentucky county extension office, located on the U.S. 150 bypass across from Wal-Mart.

Classes will be 6:30-9:30 p.m. on April 22 -23. The range work and exam will be given from 9 a.m. to completion April 24. For more information, contact Bill Hayes at (606) 365-9825 or Robert Bowen at (606) 365-3974.

Extension Office schedules

free decorating classes

Free classes for easy-to-sew or no-sew home projects and other decorating ideas will be offered 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 20, or 10 a.m. to noon April 27 at the Boyle County Extension Servoce office, 446 N. Danville Bypass. The classes are identical.

Samples of already-made items will be on display as well as on how to make others. Items to be discussed include table skirts, cotton throws, various pillows, place mats, shower curtains, bedspreads, lamp shade, window, quilt-as-you go, and much more. Door prizes will be given. Danville offers free compost

Danville will give away compost at the city farm 7 a.m. April 17. The farm is on Stanford Road. If it rains the giveaway will be moved to April 24. For more information, call 238-1200.

Stanford Renaissance/Main Street program has trees for sale

STANFORD - The Stanford Renaissance/Main Street program will sell trees to plant in memorial of a loved one. The trees are $50 and will be placed along St. Asaph's Creek in Stanford as part of a beautification project. Plaques will list names, included in the price of the tree. The trees are scheduled to be dedicated 3 p.m. April 22. Contact the Stanford Main Street office at (606) 365-4518 for more information.

Lincoln Health Department offers free physical activity program

STANFORD - The Lincoln County Health Department and Extension Service will begin a free physical activity program Tuesday.

Participants should attend the kickoff event at the extension office at 4:30 p.m., or call Rita Stewart at (606) 365-2447 to sign up. Gym bags will be given to the first 60 people to turn in their log sheets after the first eight-week session.

Other prizes to be awarded include a one-month membership to the Ephraim McDowell Wellness Center, a gift certificate to Danville Bike and Fitness, two one-month memberships to Danville-Boyle County Parks and Recreation Department, a one-month membership to Dyehouse Fitness in Crab Orchard, and a gift certificate from Stanford Physical Therapy.

The program is open to any person living or working in Lincoln County.

Community Education dance class begins Tuesday

Get ready for that big evening by learning the basics of Ball Room, Latin, Swing, and other forms of dance. It's perfect for anyone doing a wedding or getting married. Bring your song on tape or CD. There are still openings in the class.
