We would just like to thank everyone who helped us with the Caleb-Haley Bill. Even though our bill was not heard by the House of Representatives in Frankfort, they did eventually pass a similar bill on fetal homicide. The new law now states that a fetus is a person entitled to protection from conception on, instead of the old law that said a fetus is not a person unless it is born alive.
It will be two years in August that we lost our unborn son, Caleb, to a drunk driver. Not a day goes by that we don't think about him and wonder what might have been. He will, however, live on forever in our hearts. This new law was too late to help us, but it will help the next victims if it happens again.
The new law does help bring us a little peace of mind that Caleb did not die in vain. He helped to get a bill passed that was long overdue in the state of Kentucky.
