Danville track teams finish second at Collegiate Invitational

Danville's girls and boys each finished second at the Collegiate Invitational held Saturday at Kentucky Country Day in Louisville.

Jordan Guest finished first in the 400 meter run and the long jump, while Daylen Morris was first in the 100 and 200 for the Admirals.

Darius Baughman won the high jump, Charles Penix won the triple jump and Danville's 400 and 800 meter relay teams won.

"Overall I'm very pleased with the results of the meet," Danville boys coach Chris Verhoven said. "We were without some of our main guys because of spring break, but our depth paid off today."


For the girls, Shatoniah Miller won both the long and triple jumps, wile Kayla Brand won the 100 and Krystal Napier won the 200.

"It was a good meet," Danville girls coach Sadie Gambrel said. "Our girls did really well. We are a young team and I'm pleased with their effort."

Model Patriot Invitational

Harrodsburg's Brandon Brown edged teammate Mark Dunn by .01 seconds in the 100 meter dash at the Model Patriot Invitational Friday.

Brown's win in the 100 combined with teammate Michael Harris' win in the shot put and several second-place finishes by other Pioneers lifted Harrodsburg to a fourth-place finish Saturday, 34 points behind winner Paul Dunbar.

Casey County was fifth as Brad Baldock won the high jumpm and Casey took first in the 800 relay.

On the girls side, Casey took third behind wins from Beth Patterson in the 100 hurdles and Jessica Propes in the pole vault. Casey had six other top three finishes in the meet. Harrodsburg finished eighth as Tiffany Smith finished second in the long jump.
