Centre softballers win three of four from DePauw

Centre College's softball team took three of four from DePauw over the weekend, sweeping Friday's games and splitting Saturday's twinbill.

The Colonels (15-13) won 3-0 and 5-4 Friday, before losing the first game Saturday 4-2. They regrouped to win 5-3 in the second game.

Leah Tufts, Holly Phillips and Marjorie Pilkinton homered for Centre in the games, while Phillips, Jessica Chisley and Macy Dykema each doubled.

Centre hosts Hanover Wednesday for senior night.


Maryville 14, Centre 4 - The Colonels (3-23) gave up nine runs in the third inning, then five more in the seventh.


Maryville had 10 hits to Centre's four, and four of Maryville's hits went for extra bases.

Tim McLaughlin had a triple for Centre, while Chris Phelps doubled.

Andy Placido took the loss for Centre.
