STANFORD - Tanya Shelton, already charged with kidnapping and burglary in connection with the April 2 disappearance and subsequent recovery of a one-day-old girl from Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, also faces two drug charges in Simpson County.
Franklin Police Department officer Larry McFadden said when Shelton turned herself in to police in Franklin near Interstate 65, a search of her vehicle revealed two blank prescription pads in the glove box.
"Possession of those items is a Class D felony," said McFadden. "We actually booked her on those charges before we received the kidnapping warrant from Stanford police."
McFadden said the possession charges will take a back seat to the kidnapping and burglary charges in Stanford. "Obviously, those charges in Stanford are much more serious than what we have," he said.
