STANFORD - A Lincoln County grand jury handed up indictments on seven people recently, including a man who allegedly beat his wife in the face with a rock.
Jeremy Harris, 27, of 13825 U.S. 27 South, Waynesburg, was arrested last year after reportedly assaulting his wife as she walked home with another woman.
According to her complaint, Harris knocked his wife down and hit her with a rock and his fists as the witness ran to call police. Harris allegedly told the witness that if she told anyone she would be next.
Harris has been indicted on charges of second-degree assault and intimidating a participant in the legal process.
Bail was set at $10,000 payable at 10 percent. Stanford police officer T.G. Hill was the grand jury witness.
Those also indicted are:
* Douglas L. Estes, 39, Brodhead, third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking over $300 and first-degree criminal mischief. Estes allegedly broke into Don's Country Market in Crab Orchard and caused more than $1,000 worth of damage to the property.
