This is as good time as any to thank your local sheriff and deputy. The unsung heroes of all time! Not only do they enforce the law, collect taxes, serve the courts, etc., but they also have been transporting children to the Kentucky Sheriffs' Boys and Girls Ranch in Gilbertsville for 25 years.
The 2004 camping season will mark 26 years of service to needy children through the Boys and Girls Ranch camping program. Sheriffs have been dedicated to taking care of neglected, abused and at-risk children, and since the late 1970s have transported more than 25,000 youngsters to and from camp.
This summer we will again take care of hundreds of underpriveleged children, with your local sheriff helping with many of the duties, including delivering and transporting food and other much-needed supplies.
