Woodlawn and Junction City Elementary schools have scheduled their kindergarten pre-registration this week. Woodlawn will holds its pre-registration 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, and Junction City will follow 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday.
Each child entering school for the first time in Boyle County must bring the following documents:
Birth certificate - the plastic copy or hospital certificate is not valid for this purpose by state law.
Kentucky certificate of immunization - proof of immunization against diptheria, tetanus poliomyelitis, rubeola and rubella.
Varicella vaccine - written statement required if child has had chicken pox.
Physical examination form - must be completed within six months of the child's entry into school.
Eye examination form - must be done by an optometrist or opthalmologist no later than Jan. 1 of the first year the child enrolled in public school.
Social Security number - also requred by the IRS.
Parents registering a child must also bring two utility bills from June or July prior to the student registration/first day of enrollment in August.
Blood drive is Monday
The National College of Business and Technology is sponsoring a blood drive with the Central Kentucky Blood Center 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the college campus at 115 E. Lexington Ave. in Danville.
Students and staff are signing up to donate. The public also is invited to participate. Walk-ins will be welcomed.
March of Dimes rally is Thursday
The March of Dimes will host a rally 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 22 at the First Christian Church in Danville. Several local merchants have donated items for a silent auction fundraiser to be held at the rally. These items include a La-Z-Boy massage recliner, Lexington Legends baseball tickets, Kentucky Horseman football tickets, gift baskets, gift certificates and more. Roger Bingham, know as "Kentucky Joe" from Survivor: Outback will be attending the event and will be the guest speaker. Lunch will be available for $5 per person. All proceeds from the event will benefit the March of Dimes.
Meetings
Danville Board of Education - 7 p.m. Monday at Hogsett Elementary School. The agenda includes recognition of the Danville Kids University staff and discussion of the third phase of renovation work at Danville High School. Anyone wanting to have the meeting interpreted for the deaf can make arrangements for an interpreter by calling (859) 238-1300.
Lincoln County/Cedar Creek Planning Commission - 6 p.m. Thursday at old K.U. building. This is a special meeting to discuss the Uniform Cell Phone Tower application, to be located outside Crab Orchard, and final plat application for 119 acres of property off William Whitley Road, Crab Orchard.
Crab Orchard Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustments - 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall. Agenda includes a public hearing for a zone change from agricultural to commercial C-2 for property at 1712 Holcomb Lane.|3/16/04|***
