United Way honors Danville woman for volunteerism

April 23, 2004

Debbie Baker of Danville has received the Outstanding Kentucky Volunteer Award from United Way of Kentucky.

Baker is one of 15 recipients of the 2004 award, which goes to United Way volunteers around the state who have shown "exceptional leadership, vision and dedication to the United Way mission."

The announcement of Baker's honor coincides with National Volunteer Appreciation Week, which ends today.

Baker recently received the top volunteer award from her home agency, Heart of Kentucky United Way.

Baker not only has been deeply involved in the local United Way, serving in various leadership roles and on several committees, but she also has served in volunteer positions with other community organizations and agencies. She has been a volunteer for the Salvation Army of Danville and the Wilderness Trace Child Development Center, and she serves as a deacon at her church where she has been involved with youth groups and served on several committees.
