With spring in the air, it's a great time to get out with your puppy or dog and enjoy the weather. Unfortunately, these warm seasons can be dangerous for canines and felines if you aren't careful about the following:
Don't ever leave your pet in a parked car for more than a few minutes. On a warm day, even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside a car can reach 120 degrees in only a few minutes, resulting in brain damage or death.
Yes, dogs love trucks, but they aren't safe riding in the back of one. In the event of an accident, a dog can be thrown into traffic. Or, distracted by something out on the road, a dog could easily jump out of a truck. We've had people from other states call to report a missing dog that might have jumped out of the bed of a pickup truck passing through. Never tie a dog in the bed of a truck since that could lead to strangulation. Dogs should ride inside the cab or in a securely fastened crate in the truck bed.
