Boyle rally beats Garrard 4-3

Boyle County scored the winning run in the bottom half of the seventh inning to top Garrard County 4-3 Tuesday at Boyle.

Garrard took a 3-1 lead with three runs in the top of the fifth inning, but Boyle tied it up with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Rebels scored the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.

Mary Beth Pennington got the win, striking out 13, walking three and giving up two hits. Tiffany Meadors took the loss, giving up seven hits, striking out eight and walking three.

Amber Mills had two hits and three RBIs for Boyle, and C.C. Leffew, Tiffany Webb, Hannah Goggin, Beth Brown and Melissa Shannon each had one.


"It was a very good game on both sides," Boyle coach Heather Oates said. "We were just fortunate and were able to take advantage of some things. Things just went our way today."

Rockcastle County 6, Lincoln County 3 - At Stanford, Rockcastle's deliberate attack downed Lincoln's two-inning burst.

Rockcastle scored one run in each of the first four innings and added two in the fifth, while Lincoln (5-9) scored once in the third and twice in the fourth.

"We couldn't get started," Lincoln coach Pam Young said. "We came out slow, then we got a little burst, then we quit hitting. Rockcastle County just hammered the ball."

Jana Crabtree and Samantha Stapleton each had two hits for Lincoln.

Crabtree took the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits and nine walks, striking out eight.

Lincoln batters struck out nine times.
