BURGIN - Burgin scored nine times in the first inning Wednesday and beat Paris 18-8 in five innings.
The game was a make-up date for an earlier rainout, and the Bulldogs (5-6) jumped out of the gate quickly.
Burgin's nine first-inning runs were enough for the victory, but the Bulldogs added on four more in the third and five in the fourth.
Burgin had 12 hits, including an inside the park home run by Michelle Myers and triples by Taylor Bottoms and Amanda Carey. Those hits helped lift Burgin to its best start ever, according to coach Matt Grimes.
"When we go up to the plate, it's kind of like buying a lottery ticket," Grimes said. "You don't know who's going to have a big hit. We feel much more comfortable than we did last year with whoever steps up to the plate for us."
