BURGIN - A hit batsmen with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth sent the winning run home for Burgin in a 1-0 victory over Harrodsburg Thursday.

Burgin loaded the bases on two walks and a bunt before Josh Anderson hit Daniel Howard to force in the winning run.

"This was one good game to watch, but not a good game to coach," Burgin coach Terry Pitman said.

Zack Gross pitched all nine innings for Burgin, striking out 22 while walking only one and hitting one in 144 pitches. Gross twice struck out four batters in an inning, but had passed balls allow one to reach base.

"Zack's curveball was as good as it has been in the last two years," Pitman said.

Anderson took the loss, striking out six and giving up six hits.

Harrodsburg coach Brent Drury was pleased with his team, which didn't commit any errors.

"I'm very proud of our kids, we just came up a bit short," Drury said. "It's a shame someone had to lose."

Daniel Loane was 2-for-2 with a double, three stolen bases and two walks for Burgin. Josh Carey also had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Tim Lester singled twice for Harrodsburg, and Freeman Edwards had a double.
