I thoroughly enjoyed the sidebar story written by Todd Kleffman in the April 28 edition. It was a well-written, sly jab at the demagoguery of former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, and it was greatly appreciated by many.
It served wonderfully to expose Moore for what he is, an exclusive, elitist, intolerant, self-serving egomaniac.
This country is far better served when we recognize that we are a constitutional republic. That constitution was written by very wise men who understood that its very design is to protect the rights of the individual. It is for this very reason that the "liberal bogey man" the ACLU, was successful in having Judge Moore's monument to himself removed.
We are a country of 290 million citizens with many religions and many of those citizens have no religion. For this reason and many others, it is wise to maintain a wall of separation between church and state. The divisiveness that people like Moore encourage would be sorely felt if we suddenly became one nation under Allah.
