Sitting at a computer screen in midst of finals, I discovered that the skate park issue was still hovering over the Danville commissioners' heads.
Has it been four or five years since this debate on getting the kids a reasonable place to skate became an issue?
I remember, as a younger person, trying to prevail and come together with all of those who agreed upon a simple place to do what we wanted freely. It wasn't that we wanted a piece of the city's money, like many of the youths today we would have helped build the place with all of our energy. Now in college, I do not see that anything has changed, and Danville is stuck in some kind of stalemate that will never be solved. As a community we should address this skate park with the goal of helping those who are young and trying to enjoy the simple pleasure of doing what they love.
