May 17th will be the 50th anniversary of the Brown vs. Board of Education ruling. The Supreme Court with Brown overruled the "separate but equal" law established by the Plessy vs. Ferguson case. The Brown vs. Board of Education case was the first step to integrate schools making them the way they are now, a melting pot just like the country they help to form.
To celebrate one of the most important rulings in civil rights history, a community forum will be held in the Circuit Courtroom at the Boyle County Courthouse. The panelists will include Helen Fischer Frye, Bobby Trumbo, Judge Pierce Lively, Pam Rogers, Bob Rowland, and Ken Snowden. This event will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday with Amanda Butler as the moderator.
Please join us at the Boyle County Courthouse to celebrate this monumental decision. We as high school students strongly encourage you to attend this meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the trial that changed America.
