Amber Mills had a double, a triple and a home run and Tiffany Webb had three singles to lead Boyle County's 13-hit attack in an 11-1 win over Lincoln County on Tuesday.

Mary Beth Pennington and Melissa Shannon had two hits each for host Boyle, which scored four times in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 10-run lead and end the game.

"It was a very good outing for us," Boyle coach Heather Oates said. "We hit the ball extremely well and played good defense. We just keep trying to improve every game getting ready for the districts."

The Lady Rebels won the regular-season series against new 45th District rival Lincoln, taking two of their three meetings.

Joanna Frauenhoffer, Allie Hafley and Beth Brown had one hit each for Boyle.

Pennington, the winning pitcher, allowed Lincoln only two hits, struck out 10 batters and walked none, and Boyle played errorless defense behind her.

Jana Crabtree took the loss for Lincoln.

Burgin 6, Bethlehem 3 - At Bardstown, Burgin (7-9) scored its second win in as many days as coach Matt Grimes' efforts to get his players to rededicate themselves continued to pay off.

Grimes said he told the Lady Bulldogs before their win Monday over Sayre that he wanted them to start the final three weeks of the season with a clean slate.

"We were going to start off a new season and forget everything in the past," he said. "We decided we were going to start completely over with a brand new season. I'm extremely happy with our effort."

Taylor Bottoms (7-8) earned the pitching win and had a pair of doubles at the plate for Burgin, which outhit Bethlehem 9-3.
