LANCASTER - A four-car wreck Wednesday morning on Ky. 52 one mile from the Boyle County line sent four people to the hospital and backed up traffic for several miles in both directions.
According to state police, the accident occurred when a car driven by Stephen McCoy, 46, of Lancaster, was traveling east on Ky. 52 when it crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Karen Gullett, 38, of Richmond, that was traveling in the opposite direction. Gullett's vehicle hit the guardrail and skidded back into the path of a vehicle driven by Robert Anderson, 50, of Parksville. Simultaneously, McCoy's vehicle collided head on with a vehicle driven by Mark Philpot, 43, of Richmond.
All four drivers were transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. McCoy was transferred to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center with chest and leg injuries, while Gullett remained at EMRMC with a broken arm. Both Philpot and Anderson were treated and released.
