LIBERTY - Casey County will host its annual Relay for Life cancer fund-raiser Friday night at the Central Kentucky Ag/Expo on U.S. 127 South.
The event, with the theme "Carnival for Cure," is filled with activities scheduled from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. A reception for cancer survivors begins at 5:30 p.m.
"Our goal is $60,000, which is a little steep, but we've already raised $44,000," said Rachyl Cundiff, organizer.
The 12-hour event is held annually to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. A parade for cancer survivors, music, sports events, games for children and food will be part of the festivities. Booths will have educational information on cancer research and prevention.
A Parade for Prevention begins at 7:30 p.m. with relay teams judged in three categories. Special laps are scheduled throughout the night: breast cancer awareness, silly hat, five-a-day, stomp out tobacco, backwards, crazy PJ, follow the leader, have a ball without alcohol, three-legged, less stress, inside out, fill up with fiber, bed head, and physical activity.
