The Centre College music program will present a spring concert featuring the Centre College Orchestra with conductor Steven Pederson 7:30 p.m. Monday in Weisiger Theatre on the Centre campus.
The free program will include music by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Georg Philipp Telemann. A highlight of the program will be the performance of three orchestral works by Jessica Chisley, David Flora and Rosann Wilson, three of Centre's talented composers and graduating seniors who study composition with Laurence Bitensky.
"It is particularly exciting to have student musicians performing works by their fellow students," says Bitensky. "It creates a unique collaborative environment that is very energetic and stimulating."
Centre's music program offers a wide variety of performance and academic opportunities. Any student may take private lessons, participate in ensembles, and take courses ranging from music theory and history to world music and jazz history.
