Danville girls split two in London tourney

The Danville girls split two games Saturday in the Lowe's Classic at London, edging Boyd County 5-4 in eight innings and losing to Hopkins County Central 15-2 in five innings.

Danville scored two runs in the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie with Boyd, then held on after giving up a run in the bottom of the inning.

Jerrica Potts led the Lady Admirals with two singles and a double and three RBIs.

Monica Vonderbrink, Amber Wood and Kelly Embree had two hits each. One of Embree's hits was a double, and Vonderbrink had an RBI. Courtney Frye added one hit.

Winning pitcher Chelsea Wallace struck out nine batters and allowed four hits and two walks.

In the second game, Wallace allowed 14 hits and two walks.

Danville had five hits, two by Renee Chiu, including a double, and one each by Potts, Wood and Embree. Chiu and Wood drove in the Lady Admirals' runs.



Garrard County 10, Washington County 0 - At Lancaster, Tiffany Meadors earned the win on the mound as Garrard (10-10) got its first win for her father, interim coach Jeff Meadors.
