LIBERTY - Students at Phillips Elementary School who have received high scores in state academic tests were given trophies Monday by Casey County Board of Education.
Stacy Beeler, on behalf of the board, presented trophies to students who scored distinguished:
Fourth grade, Cole Burke, reading; Rance Kidd, science and writing portfolio (proficient in reading and on demand writing); Brandon Lange, science (proficient in reading portfolio); and Sarai Wethington, reading (proficient in science and portfolio).
Fifth grade: Tyler Elmore, social studies; McKenzie Hogue, social studies (proficient in math); Alex Land, arts and humanities and practical living/vocational studies (proficient in math and social studies); and Shanna Phelps, social studies and arts and humanities (proficient in math and practical living/ vocational studies).
Certificates were given to those who received proficient scores. They are:
Fourth grade: Ashley Adams, reading; Sarah Bell, reading, science and portfolio: Cole Burke, Ryan Hoffman, Mariah Morgan and Wesley Clements, each portfolio; Aaron Cain, reading and writing portfolio; Aaron Coppage, Samantha Garrett, Ashley Joines and Brandon Swinney, each reading and portfolio; Sevana Kirzan, Sabrina Stargel, Ryan White and Kasey Wethington, each reading, science and portfolio; and Michael Wethington, reading.
