HARRODSBURG - It's official. The stretch of U.S. 68 from the intersection of 152 to the Boyle County line is now the Charles H. McGinnis Memorial Highway.
The highway was dedicated Monday morning in front of the Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church on U.S. 68.
"This is one of the greatest honors anybody could get," said Troy McGinnis, son of the late judge-executive. Charlie McGinnis, as he liked to be called, lost his two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer in September 2003.
His successor, John Trisler, was the master of ceremonies at the event. He spoke to more than 50 of McGinnis' fellow officials, friends and members of his family, which Trisler said came first in McGinnis' life.
Trisler, who had known McGinnis since their youth, said McGinnis' sons, Troy and Eric, and his mother were most important to the late judge. "He cared for her so much," Trisler said. "He has been missed, but never forgotten."
