Once again, our community punishes the innocent for the behavior of a few. No one can guarantee that everyone visiting a skatepark will be on their best behavior. This is true for any public place in our town.
The children that have been so diligent and faithful in their cause have shown our communty nothing but the upmost respect and responsibility. They should not be punished because a few people have no disregard for the rules in place. Whether a person is 9 or 90, they can choose to use foul language and misbehave. Those are the people that should be punished and ask to not return.
These children have listened to the adults argue back and forth about money, place and timetable for building. They have volunteered their time and effort to make this park a reality. They deserve the chance to make it everything they want it to be. These children are our leaders in training, and I believe we should trust them and influence them so they will lead our community in a positive direction in the future.
