Albert K. Holtzclaw

Albert K. "Buster" Holtzclaw, 84, died Monday at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center. He was the husband of Geraldine Holtzclaw of Lexington. Arrangements are incomplete at Stith Funeral Home.

Joan B. Smith

Joan Bevins Smith, 70, of Crescent Drive, died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 22, 1933, in Pike County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lillie Gilliam Bevins. She was a private duty nurse and former waitress, a member of Parksville Knob Independent Baptist Church, and the widow of Herbert H. Smith.

Survivors include five sons, James. A Smith of Raleigh, N.C., Johnny E. Smith of Lancaster, Herbie G. Smith of Rochelle, Ill., Eugene Smith of Cincinnati, and Billy J. Smith of Okinawa, Japan; three daughters, Loretta Sobczak of Harrodsburg and Brenda Crow and Shirley Orberson, both of Perryville; a sister, Sally Mace of Lexington; a brother, Robert Bevins of Crab Orchard; 17 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Parksville Knob Independent Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernest Fields Jr. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.

Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Stith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Orville Butts

HARRODSBURG - Services for Orville Butts, 90, of Stratton Road, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by John Jones. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

He died Tuesday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 5, 1913, in Rochester, Ind., he was the son of the late Ira and Coral Fenimore Butt. He was a retired Eagle Express Trucking Co. employee and farmer, and a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church in McAfee. He was the widower of Vivion Cantrill Butts.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice McFerran of Greenwood, Ind.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Wanda R. Holmes

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Wanda Rose Holmes, 63, of West Chester, Ohio, were Tuesday at Vorhis Funeral Home in Lockland, Ohio. Burial was in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

She died Sunday at her home.

Born July 2, 1940, in Bethelridge, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Mary Haggard Godbey.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Holmes; a son, Ron Pennington of Cincinnati; a daughter, Monica Pennington of Cincinnati; a stepson, Clark Holmes of Cincinnati; two brothers, Dacel and Verthel Godbey, both of Cincinnati; and two sisters, Esteva McAnish and Janet Davis, both of Cincinnati.

McKnight Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Billy W. King Jr.

MORELAND - Services for Billy W. King Jr., 42, of Nicholasville, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. David Fralix. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

He died Monday at his home.

Born March 17, 1962, in Danville, he was the son of Bill King Sr. of Harrodsburg and the late Nancy K. Randolph Thompson and the stepson of Frank Thompson of Junction City. He was a concessions manager at Rupp Arena and a graduate of Lincoln County High School.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila King; a daughter, Nicole King of Lexington; a son, Billy W. King III of Nicholasville; four brothers, Kelley King of Harrodsburg and Gregory L. Thompson, Larry Thompson and Gary Thompson, all of Junction City; and a sister, Dana M. Simpson of Moreland.

Pallbearers will be Larry, Gary and Greg Thompson, Rick and Jack Lynn and Kelley King. Honorary pallbearers are Ashley King, Tony Scarpettia and Tommy McGirr.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Oneda Ware

LIBERTY - Services for Oneda Ware, 72, of Liberty, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bartle Funeral Home by Clifford DeHart. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery.

She died Monday at her home.

Born April 4, 1932, in Phil, she was the daughter of the late Arthur S. and Flossie Irene Rodgers Holtzclaw. She was a homemaker and a member of South Fork Separate Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil M. Ware; a son, Bruce M. Ware of Liberty; two brothers, Ronald Holtzclaw of Dunnville and Sherrill Holtzclaw of Liberty; and three sisters, Dixie McIntosh and Patty Bolin, both of Liberty, and Arlie Sullivan of Florida.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday.

Herbert Wheeler

LIBERTY - Services for Herbert Wheeler, 78, of Liberty, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bartle Funeral Home by Gale Durham. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery.

He died Monday at his home.

Born Dec. 4, 1925, in Casey County, he was the son of David A. and Pearlie May Atwood Wheeler. He was a farmer and repaired small engines.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Clements and Lizzie Singleton, both of Liberty.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday.|
