RICHMOND - Danville's boys and girls rolled to first-place finishes Tuesday at an all-comers meet at Eastern Kentucky University.
The Danville boys won six events and defeated runner-up Rowan County by 471/2 points. Ben Carter, Djuan Frye, Jordan Guest, Roderick Payne and Charles Penix each had a first- and second-place finish for the Admirals.
"I'm very impressed with the way the boys team is coming along," Danville coach Chris Verhoven said. "There's a lot of competition to excel, and I feel like we're peaking at the right time of year."
Frye ran personal-best times in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, and Carter did likewise in the 300 hurdles.
The Danville girls won 10 of 17 events and outscored Lexington Catholic by 63 points. Shatoniah Miller won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump, and Kayla Brand won the 200 and 400.
