Teenager charged with hit and run

LIBERTY - An 18-year-old woman was charged Wednesday with hit and run after she reportedly ran her vehicle into another one on Wallace Wilkinson Boulevard, police said.

Eva Palmer of 6793 Dry Creek Road, Elkhorn, drove her car out of the Royal Inn Motel parking lot and into the path of a vehicle driven by Lizzie Singleton, 145 Singleton Drive, Liberty, according to Police Chief Ron Whited. The Singleton vehicle was headed north on the boulevard. Palmer attempted to cross the southbound lane into the northbound lane and hit the side of the Singleton auto, Whited said.

Palmer left the scene. Witnesses told police that Palmer drove toward Yosemite on Ky. 70 East. The 1991 Toyota involved in the crash was found later by Deputy Sheriff Chad Weddle. It was parked behind a service station in Yosemite.

Whited said that Palmer turned herself at the police station Wednesday night. She was charged with second offense driving under the influence of intoxicants and leaving the scene of an accident without rendering aid or assistance.

Both cars were damaged.

Three injured in two-car crash

LIBERTY - A passenger and two drivers were injured Friday in a traffic accident at Ky. 817 and U.S. 127 at the northern city limits, police said.

Driver Frances Williams, 65, of Waynesburg, and passenger Irene Falconbery were taken to Casey County Hospital by Casey Ambulance Service, and the second driver, Carolyne Overstreet, 50, of Liberty, went by private car to the local hospital.

Officer Steve Garrett said Williams was attempting to drive from the roadside park across U.S. 127 to get on Ky. 817 as the Overstreet vehicle was headed north on U.S. 127. Overstreet attempted to miss the Williams vehicle but hit the guardrail, he said.
