Would you vote to issue bonds to build a parking garage for the Hub? Yes.
Is there sufficient green space in Danville? Yes.
Should the city extend sewerage to Gose Pike and Junction City? In my opinion, yes. At this point, as an observer (of city government), I think so.
Should the city continue to add customers to its water system? I think being in the water business is a good thing. We do have an endless supply of water in Herrington Lake.
Should the city buy Junction City's water system? I would like to see a cost-benefits analysis to that before I answer. If it is cost effective and feasible, yes.
Does the city need more recreational opportunities? I think - for the most part we have enough recreation opportunities. Maybe we need to promote the ones we have better.
How would you communicate with voters? By phone, e-mail or face-to-face.
With the media? Same for the media. I would be available anytime.

Where should the city allow commercial development? The city needs to update the comprehensive plan, and follow it.
Should planning and zoning functions be separated? I think there could be some potential benefits from separating the enforcement function from the planning function.
Did the city act responsibly when it replaced the city manager? I disagreed with actions that were taken against the former city manager.
What should the city do with its financial department? We need to refine the objectives of that department, and structure it to perform effectively. I know there is controversy about hiring the former auditor, but he has the expertise to redefine the department.
Would you vote to issue bonds for a parking garage for the Hub? Given the current financial model, yes, I would.
Is there sufficient green space in Danville? Yes.
Should the city extend sewerage to Gose Pike and Junction City? Yes. Keep in mind, that question is simple, but the reasons behind the answer are complicated. There is a lot of information that backs up the reason for needing that project.
Should the city continue to add customers to its water system? If we expand our system, then we must add customers to pay for improvements.
Should the city buy Junction City's water system? The city needs to purchase the water and sewerage system.
Does the city need more recreational opportunities? There is probably room for additional activities. Parks and Recreation is an important part of residents' quality of life, but fire, water, sewer are our core issues.
How would you communicate with voters? My phone number is listed in the telephone book. I attend civic functions, as much as I can. The city has an extensive Web site. I'm accessible, and never turn down a phone call from a resident.
With the media? I've been known to write letters to the editor. I return phone calls and am available after the meeting for interviews. The media is important to the city, and as commissioners we have an obligation to be available and provide as much information as we can.

Where should the city allow commercial development? I think that we should reuse our existing space and infrastructure. There is room downtown and other vacancies, such as Winn Dixie and Danville Manor. Then I think we should use our presently zoned commercial property before sprawling out.
Should planning and zoning functions be separated? I don't think the functions should be separate. In a community our size, planning and zoning should function as one entity. There are opportunities to use existing community agencies such as the Community Development Council to assist P&Z.
Did the city act responsibly when it replaced the city manager? I was opposed to accepting the resignation of Steve Biven, and publicly stated my disapproval. I felt like we lost a good city manager in Biven. But after all that, I want to state that I am comfortable and pleased with our new city manager.
