The Advocate-Messenger picked up five first-place awards en route to a second place General Excellence placementat the Kentucky Press Association's 2004 Advertising Excellent in Kentucky Newspapers contest.
The awards were announced at a ceremony Thursday in Lexington. The Advocate-Messenger competes in the Daily Class 2 category.
First place awards went to Jerry Dunn and Jenny Upton in the Financial category; Robert Cunningham and Upton in the Department/Discout/Jewelry Stores category; Karen Ross and Holly Davis in the Clothing Stores category; Cunningham and Upton in the Entertainment/Dining category; and Karen Luttrell, Carol Warren and Upton in the Classified Page/Section category.
The Advocate-Messenger staffers also picked up seven second-place awards, eight third-place awards and five Honorable Mention certificates.
