Boyle County senior won first place at Kentucky Art Education Association (KAEA) All-State Art Competition, hosted by the Ohio Valley Art Guild, in Old Washington near Maysville May 2.
Laura Bischoff won first place in ceramics and the Jean and Bill Akin Memorial Award as one of the top three students exhibiting at the show. She also received $100 for each of the two awards.
"I was really excited about the awards, because I have been working really hard this year and the awards indicate I have potential for success as I prepare for college and beyond," said Bischoff.
Bischoff may major in art or anthropology. "I would like to have my own art business," she said.
"Laura will do well at whatever she chooses. She is a multi-talented person, and I have enjoyed working with her," said Michael Camic, art teacher at Boyle County High School and 2002-2003 Kentucky Art Educator of the Year.
