CPR Recertification for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguarding - 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. May 29 from for the CPR class; 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for the lifeguarding class at McDowell Wellness Center. American Red Cross recertification classes are $25 for each class. Participants much bring a CPR mask or pay an additional $10 fee to use a mask provided by the Wellness Center. CPR and First Aid Classes for Hairdressers, Cosmetologists and Nail Technicians - 8 a.m. May 23 at McDowell Wellness Center. The program has been approved by the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers as meeting requirements for continuing education hours. GED Classes - Held weekly in Stanford, Crab Orchard, McKinney, Highland and Waynesburg. Classes also available include adult basic education, computer, workplace skills, English as second language and others. For more information, call (606) 365-9665.

GED Classes - Danville Adult Education and Literacy Center, room 208, Danville High School, is offering individual instruction to learn to read, prepare for GED or improve writing, reading and math skills. Open five days a week. For more information, call (859) 238-1303.

Red Cross Classes - Standard First Aid and Continuing Education for Hairdressers, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday. Standard First Aid, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday. $35 each class. For more information or to schedule a class, call (859) 236-6538.

Red Cross Volunteer Training - 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and May 25 for persons who wish to become family service volunteers. This class will train individuals to provide family service in the form of Red Cross vouchers for essential needs to victims of disaster, such as single family fires or a broader disaster such as a tornado. Attendance at both classes will earn a certification as a American Red Cross Family Service volunteer Volunteers who wish only to work in their local areas may learn the basics of completing the vouchers and work in the local chapter by attending the May 25 session only. The chapter serves Mercer, Boyle and Casey counties, and volunteers from all three counties are urged to attend. To register for the class, call (859) 236-6538.

Boyle Chapter 359, Order of Eastern Star - 7:30 p.m. Friday at 400 N. Fourth St.

Boyle County Genealogical Association - 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kentucky Utilities building on Broadway. Speaker will be Ron Bryant, librarian at the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort. His topic is "Ghosts Lore From the British Isles Transplanted to Kentucky." Visitors are welcome.
