Let's be clear about a few points.
It was President Bush who - without valid evidence - linked al-Qaida to Saddam Hussein. It was President Bush who claimed Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. It was President Bush who decided we would not observe the Geneva Convention for POW's held in Guatanamo and - by implication - elsewhere. It was President Bush who determined that we would not keep track of civilian casualties in Iraq. It was President Bush who turned the world into black and white and suggested that whoever opposed the U.S. - even Iraqis who may hate Saddam Hussein but would defend their country - was aligned with the forces of evil. It was President Bush who said last week, "Iraqis are sick of foreign people coming in their country and trying to destabilize their country," without realizing that he was talking about us. It was President Bush who blurred the distinction between fighting terrorists and liberating the Iraqi people.
