Other than being a city commissioner, Ryan Owens says he is unemployed.
A question and answer article in The Advocate-Messenger just before the primary election cited Owens' occupation as "a consultant," and he said during the interview that he was studying for his Realtor's license.
The newspaper found no state record of a business owned by Owens. When the newspaper requested a copy of his city business license, he called and said that he was in the "process of thinking about" being a consultant and that "technically he hasn't set anything up yet."
Owens did not request a correction after his occupation was published as consultant.
He said he graduated from the University of Kentucky in December with a bachelor's degree in public service and leadership and a minor in economics.
