I appreciate the work that the Heart of Danville has done to write grants for projects that keep downtown Danville vital and attractive. A thriving center, concerts in the park, festivals, parades, and other community building events - these are the things that make a small town like Danville worth visiting or raising a family in.
As a lame excuse for his vote for all but eliminating the Heart's funding for the coming year, Mayor Bowling said he wanted to support projects that benefited the entire community, rather than just the historic downtown. I would like to remind Mr. Bowling and Mr. Kavanaugh and Mr. Owens that keeping people and businesses downtown does benefit the entire community. In November, you will find that my vote reflects that opinion.
