Moreland First Baptist to hold Bible School

MORELAND - Moreland First Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Special prizes will be awarded to students with perfect attendance. Gospel concert to benefit Relay for Life

Assurance, a gospel quartet from Perryville, will be in concert at 6 p.m. June 6 at First Baptist Church, Broadway. Admission is free; an offering will be received for the Boyle County Relay for Life campaign.

Harrodsburg fireworks scheduled for July 3

HARRODSBURG - A fireworks show celebrating July 4 will be held at Anderson-Dean Community Park, but since July 4 is a Sunday, the show will be on July 3, a Saturday. The announcement was made at the Tuesday meeting of Mercer County Fiscal Court.


Stanford Garden Club will sponsor garden tour

STANFORD - The Stanford Garden Club is sponsoring a garden tour 2-5 p.m. June 6. The tour includes a lily garden at the home of Aline Burton, 8605 Ky. 1247, near Mount Moriah Christian Church; a rustic flower garden at the home of Nell Manning, 3225 U.S. 27 South; a flower and vegetable garden at the home of Dessie Reynolds, at Elizabeth Avenue and Cut-Off Street, Stanford; and a perennial flower garden at the home of Sara Lynn Cave, 406 Logan Ave., Stanford. The tour is free and the public is welcome.

Free mulch available in Boyle

PERRYVILLE - An abundance of free mulch is available at Perryville Convenience Center. Pick it up from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A front loader will put it in trucks Monday through Thursday.

Deadline for farm program is Tuesday

FRANKFORT - Tuesday is the final date to enroll in the Direct and Counter-cyclical Program for 2004 and avoid a $100 late fee.

"Farmers are eligible to receive a 50 percent advance 'direct' payment within 30 days of receiving all necessary signatures on the DCP contract," said Jeffery S. Hall, state executive director for the Farm Service Agency.

Fat Tuesday - One free large drink with concession of $1 or more.

Grab a Grandparent Wednesday - Grandparents get in free when paying admission for one or children.

Super Dad Thursday - Dads get in free when paying admission for one or more children.

Surprise Friday - Various specials offered throughout the summer.
