Gospel concert to benefit Relay for Life

Assurance, a gospel quartet of Perryville, will be in concert at 6 p.m. June 6 at First Baptist Church, Broadway. Admission is free; an offering will be received for the Boyle County Relay for Life campaign.

Vacation Bible School set

MORELAND - Moreland First Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday through June 4. Prizes will be awarded to students with perfect attendance. Fireworks scheduled for July 3

HARRODSBURG - A fireworks show celebrating July 4 will be held at Anderson-Dean Community Park, but since July 4 is a Sunday, the show will be on July 3, a Saturday. The announcement was made at the Tuesday meeting of Mercer County Fiscal Court.


Free mulch available in Boyle

An abundance of free mulch is available at Perryville Convenience Center. Pick it up from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A front loader will put it in trucks from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Deadline for farm program is Tuesday

Tuesday is the final date to enroll in the Direct and Counter-cyclical Program for 2004 and avoid a $100 late fee.

"Farmers are eligible to receive a 50 percent advance "direct" payment within 30 days of receiving all necessary signatures on the DCP contract," said Jeffery S. Hall, state executive director for the Farm Service Agency.
