Rabies clinics set up in Lincoln County

The Lincoln County Health Department will sponsor a week-long series of rabies clinics, along with veterinarians from the Stanford Veterinary Hospital and the Animal Care Center. The clinics will be June 14, 16, and 18 at various locations in the county. Vaccination fees at these clinics will be $5 per animal, a reduced rate from the normal fee.

The clinics will be at the following locations and times:

June 14: 8-9 a.m. at Highland School, 9:15-10:15 a.m. at Kings Mountain School, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Waynesburg School.

June 16: 8-9 a.m. at Tonya's Snack Shack (Ottenheim), 9:15-10:15 a.m. at Broughtontown Community Center, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Crab Orchard School.

June 18: 8-9 a.m. at McKinney Christian Church, 9:15-10:15 a.m. at Westside Community United Methodist Church (Hwy 127), 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Hustonville School, and 6:30-8 p.m. Lincoln County High School.

Boyle pageants accepting applications

Applications for Miss Boyle County, Miss Teen Boyle County and Miss Preteen Boyle County are now being accepted. There is a $50 registration fee. The pageants are open to Boyle County residents only.

The Miss Boyle County and Miss Teen Boyle County pageants will be at 7 p.m. on July 17 at Boyle County High School. The Miss Preteen Boyle County pageant will be at 7 p.m. on July 23 at Boyle County Fairgrounds pavilion.

Entry forms are available at the Danville-Boyle Chamber of Commerce from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants can register 7 p.m. July 2 at the fairground pavilion.

Crab Orchard fest looking for vendors

The Crab Orchard Fourth of July Homecoming Celebration committee is now accepting vendors for booths for the July 3 celebrations. The event is now in its 29th year and includes a large parade and car show .

A street dance will kick off the weekend, held behind City Hall from 7-10 p.m. July 2. Jasper Family DJ will be providing music and prizes will be awarded for the following contests: most patriotic hair, funkiest decorated hat, limbo, hula-hoop, bubble blowing, twist, water balloon toss and musical Simon says. Drawings will be held throughout this free event.

The city will close Elm Street from 3 p.m. July 2 through 8 p.m. July 3, stretching from the Crab Orchard Fire Station to Main Street. No through traffic will be allowed due to the celebration.

Vacation Bible Schools scheduled

Danville First Church of God - 6:30-8:50 p.m. Monday through Friday at 3220 Harrodsburg Road. Theme is Lava Lava Island, for children age 3 through eighth grade.

Mitchellsburg Baptist Church - 6-9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Crafts and games as well as music, Bible stories are planned. For more information, call 332-7698 or 332-7911. The church is on Perryville Road, Mitchellsburg.

Coupon books to benefit senior meals program

Anyone who would like to purchase a Golden Check Book coupon book should call (859) 236-3330. These books include a selection of coupons for local businesses in Danville, Stanford and Harrodsburg. The Golden Check Book includes 294 coupons and is valid until May 31, 2005. The books sell for $34.95 and will be delivered free of charge. Proceeds go to the Danville-Boyle County Senior Citizens Meal Program to aid in homebound meal delivery.

Biker benefit to aid Lincoln firefighter

Concerned Bikers of Kentucky are holding a benefit ride for Bill Cheek of Fire Station 8 on June 19. Sign-in is at 10:30 a.m. at Dairy Queen in Stanford. The ride begins at noon at Dairy Queen d and ends up at Station 1 in Stanford. Registration is $5 per person and there is an optional poker hand that costs $5 per hand. There will be door prizes.


Casey County Extension Council - Tuesday night has been canceled.

Casey County Extension District Board - 1 p.m. Wednesday at the county Cooperative Extension Service office, U.S. 127 South.

Casey County Board of Education - 7 p.m. Monday in the administrative office, U.S. 127 North. The agenda includes an update on school construction projects, review of school and district comprehensive school improvement plans, bids on the Helm and McAninch properties in Middleburg, salary schedules, and terms of employment of administrative, central office and classified personnel. The board also will evaluate Superintendent Linda Hatter and consider a salary increase for her.

Danville-Boyle County Parks and Recreation Board - 4 p.m. Thursday at Danville city hall.

Garrard County Planning and Zoning commission - 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Courthouse.

Danville City Commission - 5:30 p.m. Monday at city hall to discuss Renaissance grant, parking garage, cell tower rental, Adelphia performance bond, family court agreement, zoning text amendment off-premise signs, budget, compensation ordinance, stormwater projects, fire station update, fire department grant request and Caldwell farm annexation request.

Lincoln County Champions for Prevention - 12:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by KY-ASAP meeting at 1:30 p. m. in the Lincoln County Baptist Association Building.
