Victim of fatal crash identified as Somerset man
The man who died in a fiery weekend car crash in Casey County has been identified as a Somerset man.
John E. Craynon, 63, was killed Friday when his car struck a tree and exploded in flames, said Deputy Casey County Coroner Betty Clark.
Authorities initially had difficulty identifying the man because his body was burned beyond recognition. An autopsy completed Sunday in Frankfort provided his identity, Clark said.
Craynon was wearing a Medic Alert tag identifying him as a diabetic, Clark said.
"We're tending to think he could have been having a diabetic attack and that might have contributed to the accident," she said.
