Five people were injured during a six-car accident Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 127 near Bowen Road in Lincoln County.
The names of those injured and the extent of their injuries were unavailable this morning. Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff Marvin Rodgers, who worked the accident, was unavailable for comment.
Rita Dorman, a paramedic with West Lincoln County Emergency Medical Service, said one man was trapped inside a vehicle and was freed when emergency workers used extrication equipment to remove a door. Five people were transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Dorman said. At least one of the injured was from Boyle County, she said.
It wasn't immediately clear what caused the accident, which occurred about 4:45 p.m.
"We got a lot of conflicting reports," Dorman said. "There was a lot of traffic on the road and it was slightly raining when it happened."
