McDowell hosting 'Camp Can Do'

Children who have special needs are invited to attend a three-day camp this summer, sponsored by McDowell Wellness Center in Danville.

"Camp Can Do" is available to children from preschool through eighth grade. Four sessions of the camp are scheduled, with activities offered for 1 1/2 hours for preschoolers and 2 1/2 hours for the other age groups.

Camp sessions feature a variety of fun-filled activities, all of which will be led by occupational, physical and/or speech therapists. Activities will include aquatics, recreational horse riding, sensory crafts, cooking, therapeutic gardening and language games.

The camp fee is $90, and each session is limited to 10 campers.

Scholarships are available to families who need financial assistance with paying the camp fee. All campers will receive a T-shirt.

Camp sessions will be held according to the following schedule:

* Session 1 - Kindergarten through third grade, June 29, 30 and July 1 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.


* Session 2 - Fourth through eighth grade, June 29, 30 and July 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

* Session 3 - Fourth through eighth grade, July 6, 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

* Session 4 - Kindergarten through third grade, July 6, 7 and 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
