Mary L. Vifquain

Mary Lee Vifquain, 74, of Danville, formerly of Louisville, died Monday in Danville. Arrangements are incomplete at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

Katherine Green

PERRYVILLE - Katherine Green, 74, of Gravel Switch, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete at Wilder Funeral Home.

Ervin Buis

SCIENCE HILL - Ervin Buis, 88, of Eubank, died Monday at his home. Arrangements are incomplete at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Lloyd H. East

LANCASTER - Lloyd H. East, 76, of Lexington Road, died Monday at his home.

Born Nov. 4, 1927, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Hugh B. and Pearl Hurt East. He was a farmer, a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean War.


Survivors include his wife, Roberta Brogle East; five sons, Lloyd East, Dexter East, David East, Stuart East and John East, all of Garrard County; a sister, Ida Mae Brogle of Moreland; a brother, Howard East of Garrard County; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church by Steve Meece and Sam Arnold. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home.

Harse Owens

LONDON - Harse Owens, 69, of London, formerly of Danville, died Saturday.

Born July 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Ben and Christine Johnson Owens. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at London Calvary Baptist Church, and a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Nadene Carpenter Owens; a son, Douglas R. Owens; a daughter, Patty Armstrong; and two grandchildren.

Services were today. Burial was in A.R. Dyche Memorial Park.

Memorials may go to Gideons International Bible fund or a favorite charity.

House-Rawlings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jean Shelton

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Jean Shelton, 69, of Huntsville, died June 13.

She was born in Kentucky and was a graduate of Junction City High School and University of Kentucky with a degree in physics. She worked for NASA and was a minister.

Survivors include two brothers, Russell D. Shelton of Moulton, Ala., and Joe Shelton of Huntsville.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Huntsville.

Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Monday.

Valhalla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Elbert Vance

LIBERTY - Services for Elbert Vance, 86, of Yosemite, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bartle Funeral Home by Gary Yocum. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery with military rites by Casey County Funeral Squad.

He died Sunday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Aug. 11, 1917, in Cannel City, he was the son of the late Henry R. and Nancy Ann Ratcliff Vance. He was a retired Ashland Oil bookkeeper.

Survivors include two brothers, Franklin and Dempsey Vance, both of Ohio; a sister, Edith Oditt of Ohio; and his caregivers, Debbie Smith and Shelia Gribbons, both of Yosemite.

Pallbearers will be Zeke Smith, Joe Gibbons, Benny Bowman, Carl and Darrell Vance and Junior Watson.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday.
