Admiral alums seek volunteers for reunion

Danville Schools Alumni Association plans a Grand Reunion for all former students July 23-25 and is seeking volunteers to assist in planning and logistics. The reunion will include a picnic and dance on the DHS lawn and proceeds will be used to establish a scholarship program for graduating seniors.

The Danville High School Class of 1974 also will hold its reunion in conjunction with the Grand Reunion. For more information, call Karen Reid Taylor at (859) 238-7325.

Bring items to enter in Boyle fair

People who live in Danville or Boyle County or are a member of the Boyle County Extension Association, are eligible to enter items in the Boyle County Fair July 18-22. There is no entry fee.


Residents will have a chance to compete with others for prize money and ribbons. Professional work is not eligible. Work is considered professional if you derive all or part of your income from the type of work exhibited.

Entries for all non-perishable items will be accepted at Floral Hall on the fairgrounds (brown building at top of the hill) 2-4 p.m. July 13.

These include antiques and collectibles, fine art; crafts; crocheting, holiday crafts, home furnishings/woodworking, knitting, needlework, photography, quilting and sewing.

Entries for perishable items will be accepted at Floral Hall 10 a.m.-noon July 22.

These include flowers and plants, floral arrangements, foods, food preservation and horticulture.

Maxey's Valley School sets reunion

MAXEY'S VALLEY - The Maxey's Valley School reunion is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Butchertown Community Center in Northern Casey County. Guests are asked to bring a dish for a potluck meal.

PRIDE will host fund-raiser June 30

LEXINGTON - Bluegrass PRIDE (Personal Responsibility In a Desirable Environment) will host its first fund-raiser June 30 at Sheraton Suites off Richmond Road, Lexington.

Forty rain barrels painted by local artists will be sold by silent auction with Dave Shuffett of Kentucky Life acting as the celebrity announcer. Bidding begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.

The name of Bruce Wade was incorrect in a photo caption on page A2 in Monday's newspaper, due to a photographer's error.

The name of Angela Wade was incorrect in the Eastern Kentucky University dean's list on page D5 in the June 13 newspaper.
