STANFORD - Lincoln County has added Julie Lair to its staff as co-athletic director after deciding to give the athletic director's responsibilities to two people rather than one.
Lincoln principal Ty Howard said Lair will become the administrator for girls sports, while current athletic director Don Story will remain the AD for boys sports. Both are Lincoln alumni.
Howard said the Lincoln County Board of Education voted to split the athletic director's position for two reasons.
"It was a lot of work," Howard said. "Don was going full steam," Howard said. "It may help with equity also."
Howard said a Lincoln policy prevents its athletic directors from holding a head coaching position.
Lair, who was the softball coach and an assistant volleyball coach at Lincoln in the 2002-03 school year, spent the past year as a teacher and coach in the Scott County system.
