Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday at Apartment 38 at Balasa Drive, where one occupant complained of chest pains said Woody Ball, assistant fire chief.
Boyle County Emergency Medical Service transported the occupant from the scene to the hospital after the person became ill due to anxiety of the fire. The American Red Cross responded and gave aid to the victims.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 7:58 a.m. where the fire was brought under control at 8:04 a.m. The apartment was inhabited by Julie Hale.
There was no one at home at the time of fire, Ball said. The fire was confined to the bathroom and hallway, but the apartment had severe heat and smoke damage. Three other apartments in the complex had moderate smoke damage but are still habitable.
