Lester named vice president, CFO of medical malpractice insurance firm
Harrodsburg native David W. Lester has been named vice president and chief financial officer of Healthcare Underwriters Group of Kentucky (HUKY), a physician-owned medical malpractice insurance company based in Louisville.
Lester is a CPA with nearly 30 years of experience in financial management with an emphasis in healthcare and medical liability insurance companies.
HUKY received authorization from the Kentucky Office of Insurance Regulation (KOIR) in December to begin issuing policies to doctors.
Beto appointed to bank advisory board
The Farmers National Bank has elected Dr. Louis M. Beto to the Boyle County Advisory Board.
A lifelong resident of the county and graduate of Danville High School, Beto practices oral and maxillofacial surgery in the firm of Beto & Bogardus, PLLC. He attended Wake Forest University and University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and studied oral and maxillofacial surgery at Temple University.
His civic activities include coaching in the Bluegrass Youth Soccer Association and being the secretary of the organization. He is a member of the Danville Chamber of Commerce.
He lives in Danville with his wife, Maureen, and their sons, Christopher, Louis and Jonathan. The family attends the Presbyterian Church of Danville.

Restaurant and gift shop opens
Three Babes and a Monkey, a cafe and gift shop, has opened at 127 N. Fourth St. Owners are Lauren Serey, Tammy Spurlin and Dr. Susan Coleman. Hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. The cafe plans to be open late after performances at Centre College. The cafe features salads, sandwiches and wraps. New hair salon opens in Moreland
Cuttin' Loose, a new hair salon, opened Thursday at 2670 U.S. 127 in Moreland.
The salon will offer color, foil highlights, corrective color, perms, relaxers, facial waxes, cuts and more.
Owner Angie Tharp has nearly five years of experience, with an eight-month apprenticeship at Planet Salon and four years at Still Cuttin' Up.
Tharp will be joined at Cuttin' Loose by stylist Stacie Higdon of Casey County, who has more than seven years of experience and has worked as an assistant manager in the past.

Thompson joins Fort Logan medical staff
STANFORD - Dr. Ron Thompson, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, has joined the medical staff at Fort Logan Hospital. His practice, which opens July 19, will be at 107 Metker Trail, Suite A.
Thompson graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1970 and received his medical degree in 1975 from the University of Louisville Medical School. He completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University, in Atlanta, Ga.
A native of central Kentucky, Thompson previously practiced for 17 years in Bowling Green, and has practiced in Florida since 1996. He is returning to Kentucky due to family obligations.
Thompson is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He and his wife, Kim, have relocated to Danville with their two children, Brittany, age 12, and Connor, age 13.
Wash joins Hair Studio
Rita Wash recently joined the team at the Hair Studio, 458 S. Fourth St. in Danville.
She specializes in perms, highlights and color. Wash is a graduate of Durham's Beauty School.
