In a brief appearance in Boyle County Circuit Court Tuesday, former middle school teacher Mark Starr pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from allegations he videotaped a female student in a "sexual performance" at the school.
Starr appeared before Circuit Judge Darren Peckler with attorney Richard Clay Jr. His wife, Tricia Starr, was also in the courtroom. All three declined comment afterward.
Starr's next scheduled court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Sept. 7, when prosecutors will have to reveal some of their case against him.
Starr, 32, was indicted last month on charges of using a minor less than 16 years old in sexual performance and tampering with physical evidence. Both are felonies and Starr could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted on both counts.
