Fires occur at two mobile homes

STANFORD - The state police arson investigator has been called to investigate a fire that claimed a doublewide mobile home on Ky. 1247 last week near the historic overlook at Halls Gap.

According to dispatchers, firefighters were called to the scene about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The fire came just three days after another trailer caught fire at 605 Cemetery Road near Waynesburg. Dispatchers report that the owner was transported by Waynesburg EMS on June 28 after the fire was reported.

Thefts reported in Danville

Danville police are investigating several thefts and break-ins that occurred over the long holiday weekend.

Someone forced their way into Carl W. Bartleson Jr.'s residence at 418 Patrician Place and took a watch Tuesday.

A burglary was reported Sunday at 728 Dilehay St. Eugene Denson told police someone stole an electric generator. Also on Sunday, someone broke into Ontelma Huerta's residence on Factory Lane and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.


On Friday, someone broke into Arthur Blevins' residence at 453 Gose Pike, but nothing was taken, police said.

On Thursday, someone stole the purse of Cassandra Harker of Stanford while her vehicle was parked at Danville Manor. The yellow purse contained a gold watch, a ring and cash. Also on Thursday, someone stole parts to a beverage machine at McDonald's on Jane Trail.
